Baby Chandler {6 months}

Little Chandler is so adorable with his big gummy grin and his round, peach fuzz head! He really wasn't sure about much that I was doing this session which resulted in some pretty fantastic little expressions.

I was so in love with their outfits for this session... especially the fishy scales in the creek <3

We wrapped up by letting big brother play around in the water (my favorite sessions to do this time of year for obvious reasons!)

Overall, we had a beautiful morning at a beautiful park with beautiful kids. What more can I ask for ;)

Baby Addison and Baby Camden @ 6 days new

Twins! I don't get them often, but when I do I absolutely eat it up! They are just so amazing to work with. The way they fall into each other and find comfort from being close is so special. They can be so squirmy, but when you lay them next to each other, you can actually feel the tension leave them.

It is also amazing how different they can be. Little Addison was so content to do whatever we wanted. She just fell into every pose with ease, while Mr. Camden was a little more interested in moving around and seeing what was going on! Until I put him next to his little sister that is.

I'm not sure how you mama's with twins do it, but I am pretty sure you have super powers!

This handsome young man I am lucky enough to call my nephew!

It's funny, the more you know a kiddo, the harder it is to get them to smile a real, genuine smile at you. Or maybe it is just because I know what a real, genuine smile looks like and I am just not happy until I get it!

I was SO excited to catch some personality in a few of these- it definitely helped to have my 9 year old as an assistant ;)

Baby Everly {4 days new}

Baby Everly was one of the sweetest little angels ever! I had so much fun snuggling with her and getting to spend time with this sweet couple.

And that nursery?! Seriously like something out of a magazine. I'm not sure I have ever seen anything like it!

Lighting was a little bit of a challenge in this room, but I just couldn't resist spending a lot of the time in there. It was such a relaxing a beautiful space to shoot in!!

I loved getting to capture little Everly and this special time in this new family's life.

Clark Family {Summer Session}

Little Mallory was ALL smiles almost the entire session. It's so much fun when kids cross the hump and learn to smile and work the camera- and this girl definitely knew what I wanted her to do. Mama was armed with a bribe bag (I should totally start carrying one of those!) and I learned that Mallory will work for chocolate!

I also always enjoy getting shoot pictures with grandparents. That relationship is so special and I love to capture it.

Ok... so let me go ahead and apologize for picture overload. This session ranks up there with one of my favorites of all time. I mean frilly dressed girls in a creek in the summer time!? Not much beats that!!

This mama (being a photographer herself) comes up with some of the greatest ideas and it has been so much fun getting to know her and her beautiful family. These girls are so well behaved, but also so full of personality that it makes my heart burst!

I'm just gonna be quiet because these pictures can totally do the talking for me.

One of my favorite locations and one of my favorite ages!

LOVED this little girl who was so full of personality!! She kept me running and on my toes for pretty much the entire session- definitely got my workout in for the day :)

I am so pleased with how they turned out though- I feel like they captured the details of her personality and they fun of this stage of life!

Sweet Olivia had a hard time warming up to me this go round. I love how you can watch the progression through this session and by the end she was flashing some beautiful smiles with those amazing blue eyes :)

I have to work through my bag of tricks. Sometimes it takes a lot of misses before I figure out the way to an 18 month old's heart. Turns out Miss Olivia just wanted to share some sticks and smell some flowers!

Either way, she is such a beautiful baby girl- serious and smiling :)

Thompson Family {Baby Bump Session}

After getting rained out for our original date, we had such perfect weather for this session!!

I never know quite what to expect when I show up to a baby bump session. Sometimes the mommy to be is miserable and not too excited to go hiking through a park with a camera in their face. Sometimes they downright insist on not walking further than the edge of the parking lot. And sometimes (like this amazing couple!) they are game for whatever!!!

(I am pretty sure I drifted through all 3 of these feelings in every hour of all 3 of my pregnancies... and I totally get it)

We ventured all over this beautiful park and managed to capture some amazing shots!!

I can't wait to meet this little girl when she is ready to make her appearance!

Woah! Some shoots just blow me away. I plan and plan and put my heart into all of them, but sometimes the stars align and you end up with everything going exactly right.

Little Lexi Ann is graduating from a grow up plan (insert crying face here!) And by the way, this session was totally FREE(!?!) since she completed the entire grow up plan! (Baby Bump, newborn, 3,6,9, and 12) and mama assured me that there will plenty more. I seriously fall in love with these babies and look forward to seeing them again!

But anyway... onto sweet baby Lexi. These pictures speak for themselves and her little personality so I'll just be quiet now :)

Took a couple weeks off for a "vacation" (not sure what that word means when you have 3 kiddos) but I was so excited to jump back in and I had the perfect little man to start with!

I don't know what to say about this cutie. First, that hair... I mean, enough said, right?!

And his personality. He is so full of character and wasn't afraid to tell me like it was which I totally love!

I loved meeting him and look forward to seeing his sweet family again later this year!!

I cannot say enough good things about this family.

I met them back when I was just starting out and did a "Model Call" for a newborn girl. Ended up doing a maternity session with them too. (Yeah, that little girl has grown up quite a lot!)

They believed in me from the beginning and sent me client after client. They helped me believe in myself and helped me build a business around what I loved to do. They still send me client after client and nearly all of you can be traced back to them in one way or another (but the web has definitely expanded very far thanks to SO many of passing my name on!)

I am grateful for them and their friendship.

Baby Jacob {6 months}

Happy 6 months to this little chunky monkey! Seriously... this little stud is already in 18 month clothes and size 5 diapers and weighs more than my 16 month old! I can't get over it and I could squeeze him all day long.

This family is just so precious that I can't even put it into words. 3 young and crazy boys and they are still the sweetest, most calm and patient couple you will ever meet.

Cannot WAIT to see how much this little guy has grown by his 9 month session... surely he will slow down at some point! But, in the meantime, enjoy these rolls!

Baby Turner {3 months} + Extended Family

First things first, it was WAY colder than any of us expected for this session! But little Turner held out better than the rest of us I think! He is a handsome (but somewhat serious) little guy who only cracked a few smiles despite my loud, obnoxious antics :) I think he only smiled when he was looking at his sweet mama and daddy.

And I was SO excited that they added on some additional pictures with their beautiful family! This family is so tight knit and has such an incredible bond. It is such a special thing for me to capture generations together as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Look forward to seeing you again at 6 months!

Avery is Two!

This session was SO much fun! Atlanta has so many amazing photography opportunities! I love how you can go across the street and get two completely different settings within one session. Love this city.

This session was mainly about Avery being TWO, but I just can't resist getting some shots of these two together. They are just so adorable with that blond hair and these pictures capture every bit of their interactions with each other! I know this mama and daddy are NEVER bored.

This family... wow! I knew from the first email that this session as going to F.U.N.

(and by fun I mean that I was going to be flat out exhausted by the end!)

These four little ones are so full of life and energy and I really wanted to be sure to capture that on camera! And they are such beautiful little kids with that beautiful red hair and those big smiles.

While getting a single shot with everyone both looking AND smiling proved to be difficult, I feel like this set really shows off this family and how much love they share. Looking through these just makes my heart happy :)

Extended Family Session

I shoot pretty often with the Francis family, but I absolutely love their extended family sessions! This home is so gorgeous and is a photographers dream!

My favorite part though? That they want natural, lifestyle photos. They want memories recorded of the kids playing at their home. I love that! What good memories these kids will have of playing at their grandparents house.

The last couple pictures are so cool to me. There have been pictures made of each of the grandbabies on that same green silk blanket. I have had the pleasure of taking two of them- this is Sibyl's! Check out that hair!!! They are framed in beautiful frames and hung on a gallery wall in their home.

Such a pleasure working with you again! Love you guys :)

Baby Atticus {9 days new}

All this new mommy wanted was an open eyed shot. I emphatically said, "Oh, no problem! They always wake up at some point during the session!" But this amazingly handsome little guy had no interest in waking up for me... at all!

At the very end, we spent a little while trying to wake him up and I managed to get one.... ONE with his eyes open. And I was super excited to get that one.

Either way, we ended up with some pretty sweet shots and I loved every second of working with this couple!

THIS is why I love smash cake sessions. Little Alexis was SO full of personality and was such a sweetie with everything we wanted her to do. Her sweet little personality shined through in these photos and I couldn't get enough of her!!

And that cake!!!! She loved it. But she was very serious about digging into it! A little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and she was up on her feet though :)

I usually love to do 6 month sessions outside, but it has been SO COLD! What is this weather? It wasn't even this cold in winter!? But Brielle didn't care one bit that we were inside!! She was so full of personality and smiles that it was contagious! Every expression is different. Turns out she can carry the whole picture and just doesn't require the background! That is what I L.O.V.E about capturing this age.

Maybe weather will cooperate for her 9 months and we will get to capture this little cutie in the sunshine, but I am pretty in love with this sweet little 6 month session!

I have held these hostage for a little while now and I have been so excited to share them!! Josh and Jamey- it was a struggle! But I finally got the go ahead a few hours ago so I had to put a post together :)

I L.O.V.E. this couple. They are some of the most fun people to work with. They have so much fun together and it is so evident how much they love each other. I had the pleasure of shooting their wedding awhile back and now I get to be a part of capturing their growing family!!

Baby Jude {8 months!}

It was a little chillier than I expected for this session, but Mr. Jude didn't seem to mind! He went with the flow the whole time. He particularly enjoyed my big basket where he just lounged to the side and became Mr. Chill.

He wasn't too interested in smiling at me... I think he more wanted to figure out what in the world was going on. Most babies don't usually sit in fields in baskets at sunset and they find in strange when we are so excited about it! I totally get it.

He did give me a few little smiles here and there, but he definitely won my heart with those big brown eyes! I could swim in those things!! I don't know how mama is ever going to say no to him :)

Adoption is such a beautiful story and these two are a perfect pair!!

I have known Katie for a long time. Met her for the first time about a month after my husband and I started dating all the way back in 2001. We were both, of course, much younger then :) ... but I feel like I have watched her grow up. Her and Ben are such a sweet couple! I was completely honored when they asked me to photograph their wedding. It was the first wedding I ever shot and I was ridiculously nervous to even say yes. But I am so glad I did and that they took that chance on me!

So when they asked me to capture Mr. Wyatt at a month old... I couldn't wait!!! You never know what you are going to get when you show up to a 1 month shoot. Most of them have begun to find their little personalities (and sometimes their little lungs!) You never know if they are still going to like to be wrapped up, if they are going to be asleep or not, if they will even fit into your props (it blows my mind how much they grow that first month!) But little Wyatt was PERFECT. He gave me the perfect amount of sleepy and awake and gave me some of the cutest expressions EVER.

Isn't he such a handsome little guy!?

Washing Red with Daddy {Documentary Photography}

Meet Red.

Red needed a bath.

Husband promises daughter she can help when he comes home from work.

Husband comes home from a long day at work, tired.

He pulls out the bucket at which point I tell him to wait on me to get my camera {at this point I am sure I got an eye roll or something!}

He proceeds to wash the truck.

While this may seem like a meaningless evening. It turned into a special time for all of us. It was a moment that turned into a memory. 3 kids watching daddy work hard even after working hard all day. The discovery and thrill of a 14 month old who learned how much fun a puddle was. And 3 kids drenched head to toe in muddy soapy water.

Some meaningless moments can turn into memories and stories worth telling... stories worth remembering.

If you let them.

Baby Tyndall {3 month} + a little Valentine fun

Can't believe it was already time for Ms. Tyndall's 3 month session (and can't believe how big Ms. Tatum is getting!!)

We started with some Valentine's shots since the time was right <3

We didn't get any family shots at her newborn session, so I wanted to focus on getting some good ones of this beautiful family of four! That and Ms. Tyndall wanted to nap her session away in mommy's arms :)

I have had so much fun getting to know this family over the last year! With 3 older brothers, little Miss Lexi is ALL girl and you can just tell how smitten they all are with her! I love that they are always up for anything and everything always turns out perfect because this girl is all smiles <3 It was a little chillier than we expected, but she handled it like a pro- naked booty and all!

We followed up with her cousins' session so we took the opportunity to take a group shot of all those little girls together. Talk about sweet! Totally made my valentines day getting to post those!

Meet Baby Aria {Newborn Session}

Getting to meet this little girl made my entire week. It seems I have had a run of boys lately so it was fun to get into some PINK! She was such a sweet little thing who did anything that I wanted- as long as those little hands were by her face.

Another one of my favorite parts of my job {that I enjoy nearly as much as the pictures} is getting to come into people's homes and get to know them at such a special time in their lives. I really loved getting to know both this new mommy and grandma! I probably could have spent just as much time talking to them as I did taking pictures :) They were so sweet and hospitable... and can make some yummy muffins and coffee!

We were ridiculously cold, and I'm pretty sure we were only out there 10 or 15 minutes tops... but it was totally worth it! Hutchison had so many layers on that I am pretty sure he was the only warm one out of all of us!

Brad and Brittany have remained some of our best friends over the years. Though the time we spend together is less and less the more babies are added to our families, I am so grateful to have their friendship in our lives.

I am blown away by their story and the fact that this sweet lady was told at one point that, due to cancer, she would never be able to have children. Now she has been blessed with not just one, but TWO precious baby boys.

Galloup Family {Baby Bump Session}

Allison was a good friend from high school and I haven't gotten to see her since her beautiful wedding, so I was super excited when she asked me to do her maternity session!

We met at a beautiful park with mountains in the back and trails to walk. We knew it would be pretty chilly, but none of us expected it to be sleeting on us while we were trying to take these! The weather man called for a dry afternoon, but the clouds proved otherwise!

Regardless, Allison and Joe were SUCH good sports even though I believe we were all turning purple at one point haha!

Willow is ONE! {Smash Cake Session}

I have done pictures for this family for quite awhile and I always love spending time with them. They are so easy going and friendly! It was a chilly (but sunny) morning, but Miss Willow loves to be outside so out we went. Hiking through the woods in their back yard in the freezing cold, she was ALL smiles! She got a kick out of sitting in the bucket in the woods... I am pretty sure babies must think that I am crazy most of the time.

Big brother is so amazing with her! I loved watching them interact. He adored her and the feeling was mutual I think :)

When we came back in it was cake time! She could NOT get enough of it, shoving it in by the handfuls and smashing the cake (quite literally) with both hands. She certainly put on a show and I loved it!

Jacob {3 months}- Grow Up Plan Session

Chandler {Newborn}- Grow Up Plan Session

Clients who utilize a grow up plan usually feel more like friends than clients by time they are finished. I first met this family just after big brother was just a few days old... my how time flies! I was having serious flashbacks during the whole session... little Chandler looks just like his older brother- they even had the same birth statistics!

I love this session (and their home) because I was able to catch some great lifestyle images as well as some posed baby goodness.

This mama is going to have her hands full with these 2 boys, but I know she wouldn't trade it for anything!

I had such a good time getting to know Keith and Alayna. They were such good sports hiking through the woods with me even when I led them the wrong way and ended up back at the parking lot :P Some couples are just beautifully natural together. Their interactions are genuine, their smiles are real, and their faces radiate happiness. This is definitely one of those couples! Their wedding is going to be breathtaking and I am so excited to be a part of it <3

Sometimes you show to up to a session and everything just lines up beautifully. After having to postpone this one for various reasons, we ended up getting super lucky with a relatively warm, beautiful foggy January morning. Mr. Porter was such a handsome little Lumberjack getting ready for his party! I couldn't get enough of his big grin! I have loved getting to know this family so much over the last year and can't believe their grow up plan has ended... but I have been reassured that I will still get to see this little one grow up ;)

It seems like only yesterday I was in the same spot shooting big sisters smash cake session! These two sisters are so in love with each other and it is SO obvious. They could not get enough of each other and it was so sweet to watch them interact. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous that little Jayla wasn't feeling the whole smash cake session. Her alligator tears broke my heart... so we made it into a family affair. Turns out all she needed was a fork. And of course, she had to share with her big sissy who had no problem jumping in with a fork of her own. Every session is so very different from the next, but this one was especially unique.

This little girl is absolutely perfect and was a DREAM to work with! She gave me a good combination of precious open eye shots as well as some squishy little sleepy shots. She even gave me some sleepy smiles as we were wrapping up which are always my favorite. Enjoy!

Baby Turner {6 days new}

I met this sweet couple awhile back when I had the honor of capturing their BEAUTIFUL wedding day. I could not say enough good things about them when I took pictures at their wedding. They are sweet, warm, friendly people who light up a room. Now they have added a new member to their family and they can add incredible parents to the list of things I can say about them.

Meet Turner. He is absolute perfection.

Including special things into newborn photos makes them mean so much more. This doll was completely handmade for him down to the clothing!

What is Documentary Photography?

Almost every session that I do, I find myself mentioning to people that my heart is in Documentary photography. I like Portrait photography, it has it's place {on my walls!} I love Lifestyle photography and the natural look that it brings. I love Stylized photography for a fun and creative change. But the majority of my photographic heart belongs to Documentary photography. What is the difference and how do I choose to define each? I'm glad you asked! I will break these down in a little more detail in the future and what each may look like for you.

A brief description in my own words-

Portrait Photography- Shooting in a pretty place you don't normally go, in things you don't normally wear, and posing in ways you don't normally stand {We all know this one well!}

Stylized Photography- Highly planned session. The options are endless here. They generally require a planning session to discuss wardrobe, setting, props, etc. Every last detail is thought through and planned out to reach an end result. {Creative and something I love to do on occasion!}

Lifestyle Photography- This varies based on which photographer you are using. I view it as a combination of posed photos and natural photos and aims to capture both the perfect pose as well natural expressions and interactions. This is a more comfortable, relaxed session and generally includes a variety of shots that include lots of personality. {This is where I fall the majority of the time with Clients.}

Documentary Photography- THIS. This is where you capture emotion; connection. This is where you use small details to tell a story. It is completely unstaged, unfiltered, raw. It captures you, in your environment, doing something that you normally do. It can make the mundane beautiful. It can capture REAL smiles, real connection. The photographer is a fly on the wall capturing and putting together the photos so that when you look back you can remember and relive the memories from the moment. Bedtime, dinnertime, morning pancakes, bubbles outside, doing dishes with a baby attached to your leg {Yes, this is my reality} and it is all worth capturing and remembering.

Baby Sibyl {newborn}

I had the privilege of meeting these boys a few years ago. I knew when they showed up with turquoise shoelaces and salmon colored slacks that I was going to love these boys (and their parents). They have a tradition of doing a fall session every year with their Halloween costumes and, every year, I look forward to seeing what they are going to come up with!

We broke tradition to introduce the newest member of the family- Baby Sibyl! I loved watching these sweet boys dote over their new little sister. They were smitten <3 Sybil is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to see her Halloween costume come October ;)
